A passion for storytelling...

Hello! I’m honored that you’ve stopped by and want to hear a bit of my story.

Most importantly I’m a follower of Christ, and a wife + mama! As a family we tend to our little homestead in the mountains of western Virginia - a life I absolutely adore but never even had an interest in until 2019! It’s amazing to me how quickly things can change, which is one of the reasons I appreciate photography so much. It’s a cliche saying but you really are freezing a moment in time to revisit later!

We have a simple and wonderfully fulfilling life. I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment after a long days work. We work hard, but also value slow living and don’t subscribe to the increasingly common “always hustling” mentality. There’s forever a hundred things to do on the homestead but we embrace the busyness of spring through fall and rest with nature in the winter. I seek out honesty and a genuine nature in my friends, and value people that listen (a trait I'm working to advance in myself too!). I used to be very active on social media but now am finding so much joy in NOT sharing our every waking moment!! I was a wedding photographer for over 7 years, but decided to hang up that hat to focus on being a wife and raising babies. Milking our cow is one of my favorite times of day because we all get to hang out and talk while caring for the land and animals our Creator has blessed us with! I love going for walks and we prioritize spending as much time as possible in the fresh air. At any given time Chris and I are probably reading at least 4 books, and always collecting more (we have a weakness for very old books)! I love vintage art, and in my free time I enjoy selling photographs and artwork in my Etsy shop. Overall, taking care of our home and the people in it is my top priority, which is why I take on a limited number of sessions and editing clients. Each of my photography and editing clients deserve attention to detail, so I am careful to not spread myself too thin!

Simplicity and realness is the bread to my butter and I love bringing that mindset to my work. Whether you’re here to book a session or outsource your editing, I hope you’ll take a look around and see if you think we’d be a good fit for each other! I look forward to hearing about you!

1. We have a cow that we milk by hand every day. Her name is Honey and she gives the Best. Milk. Ever.

2. I haven't been to a grocery store regularly since 2020. We either buy food locally, from Azure Standard, or we grow/raise it ourselves. But I do occasionally stop by Kroger to get bananas or apples 😄

3. I have an Etsy shop where I sell printable organization tools, photographs, and reimagined vintage artwork.

4. When I was in middle school my parents said they could help me purchase a fancy camera or pay for braces. I chose the camera, and now as an adult I’m glad I didn’t remove my gap!

5. We are passionate about regenerative agriculture, permaculture, and living a life as toxin free as possible.

6. Someday we think it would be fun to build a straw bale house covered in cob!

7. I cannot sleep without a ceiling fan. Even if it’s -20° outside. I love the feeling of snuggling under warm cozy blankets in a cold room!

Do you feel like you’re constantly delivering weddings at the tail end of your turnaround time? Are you burnt out from all the hours you spend sitting at your computer? Do you hope to regain some precious time with your family? Do you just simply *hate* editing? All these and more are great reasons to consider outsourcing your editing!

Hiring a private editor is no small thing, and I know you have a LOT of questions. The good news is that I have over six years of private editing experience to help guide you! Helping photographers get their life back is my JAM, so let’s make this happen!

Your photography business is personal. While you certainly can outsource many parts of your business, the majority of my clients love that by outsourcing just their editing they are able to focus on improving the entire experience for their clients! It’s amazing the things you can accomplish when you’re not stuck behind a computer all day! Why not give it a shot?

ENJOY all your new free time!

Give me some info about your business and I’ll be in touch soon with more details and a short questionnaire for you to fill out!

We’ll schedule a phone call to get to know one another, go over the nitty gritty, and I’ll answer any questions you have!

This may seem scary but I’ll provide ALL the instructions for how to do this! And I’m just a text or email away to help troubleshoot.

Kick your feet up, read a good book, play with your kids, take a walk in the fresh air… Within 10 business days you’ll receive a fully edited catalog!

1. How will I send you the photos?

I will set up a shared Dropbox folder, which is where you will send your catalog to be edited and also receive it once it’s completed!

2. DO YOU OFFER CULLING SERVICES?

I do! I’ve worked out a simple system that makes culling + editing a breeze for both you and I. If this is something you’re interested in I will send you more detailed information! This is also an add-on service, available to you whenever you need it! Some of my clients only ask me to cull when they are in a busy season.

3. Do you only work with photographers who have a similar style to you?

Definitely not! I am blessed to have clients with a wide variety of editing styles. From dark and moody to light and bright, I have you covered!

4. RAW files are massive, won’t it
take forever to upload?

I actually won’t be working with the RAW files themselves but the Smart Previews you’ll create in Lightroom! If this is something new to you I’ll explain it all in detail during our phone call. Smart Previews don’t take up nearly as much space and will be much quicker to upload!

5. Do you work in Photoshop or only Lightroom?

At this time I exclusively edit using Lightroom. You may Photoshop your images once receiving the finished catalog back, but before sending it must be only Lightroom edits!

6. Do you offer extra editing?

My editing services include cropping, straightening, and develop panel adjustments. I do not offer things like cloning, adjustment brushes, teeth whitening, etc. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about what is/is not included!

Kind words from kind people...

A million percent cannot recommend Emily enough for what she does with her private editing. I used to think private editing was VOODOO and that the work isn't "mine" if someone was editing it for me. WRONG. It's actually quite the opposite. I edit 20% (ish) of the photos I send her, from any and every lighting situation throughout the wedding day. That way, she knows exactly how I would edit a certain situation especially when it comes to lighting, and we all know that's pretty much what the job is on a wedding day, finding the light. She also has my EXACT presets that I use too, which makes it all the more easy. With that said, Emily has NEVER let me down. She has always been SPOT on from day one. I literally can't tell even a teeny remote difference between my own edits and hers. The reason I hired her? I take on 30+ weddings a year, and while it's my full time job, that doesn't mean I am shooting just weddings alone. This is on top of traveling, engagement photos, client meetings, ect. Mental health is SO important to me, and spending time with the people I love the most is #1 ALWAYS. I wanted to stop spending SO much time on the computer editing and more time living life and providing for my clients in other ways for a more well rounded experience. Emily has DRASTICALLY sped my process up and my clients get their galleries back in LIGHTING speed. Like I said, she's SO fast with turn around, consistent, and so understanding of any and everything. I have literally asked her to rush a gallery before and no questions were asked. If you feel like the weight of the world with editing photos is on your shoulders right now and you're reading this, you found your solution. Hire her NOW. WORTH EVERY PENNY. You will NOT regret it.

Giving the editing of your images away it's a bit like giving away your babies... and you need someone that you can trust and can reproduce your brand vision accordingly. Emily has been amazing for my business and has edited all my weddings over the past couple of years so that I can concentrate in growing my business and take some time off with my kids during the week

Laura - Perla Photography

Emily is so wonderful! She has given me the ability to enjoy editing again and gain more balance in my life. Emily has been my editor for 2.5 years now. Prior to finding her, I tried out multiple editors and was never able to find someone who gave my images as much attention to detail as I do. Emily does that and always blows me away when she sends back edited galleries. I just received one today and once again she nailed it. She is always so prompt as well and has enabled me to deliver galleries to my clients in record time. So she has not only helped me get time back, but also elevate my client experience. I can't say enough good things about Emily and highly recommend her to anyone needing a private editor!

An email I received after delivering the first catalog to a new editing client...

Emily,
I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH! Seriously, I am BLOWN AWAY by our first wedding project. I have sung your praises to everyone of how fast and accurate you were with the gallery!! If only I'd found you years ago!!! I cannot thank you enough for your precision and talent. Your edits were spot on and I literally have no feedback (I am picky and honest!).
